The Accession is a mystical event that occurs every five hundred years. It seeds both wars that cull the number of living Immortals and new mated pairs.
It is not usually a war that factions line up but a slow series of escalating battles until wars result. The winner of the Accession is the species with the most members at the end of the Accession. There seems to be some kind of prize for the winner but this is not clear as yet.
The Horde have won the last few Accessions. The last time the Valkyries had dominated through an Accession was two millennia ago.
